Rutgers University Stadium, New Jersey, USA

Global on-site solution
The short execution period of this football stadium required efficient solutions in products (formworks and shoring systems) as well as in the supply.

Description

The short execution period of this football stadium required efficient solutions in products (formwork and shoring systems) as well as in the supply, since construction needed to be completed within 6 months, coinciding with the beginning of the football season.

The work was carried out in two phases. In the first, 1,000 new VIP seats were added, along with a tower with stairs and an elevator. The second consisted of a new structure in the southern area, with additional seats for approximately 13,000 spectators and various halls. With these additions, this new stadium has a capacity of up to 54,000 people.

ULMA Solution

The MEGAFORM formwork permitted the forming of the numerous rectangular columns and walls in an efficient manner, since it adapts to any configuration, as well as providing an excellent fair-faced concrete finish.

After the first uses of material for walls and columns, the slabs were made with solid beams. A combination of T-60 shoring towers and braced ALUPROP Aluminum Prop towers were used as a shoring system, depending on the area. In fact, more than 75,000 m2 of T-60 towers were installed on site.

The T-60 Shoring System is designed in such a way that it is able to support, thanks to the header frame and the jack, the slab decks without the need of additional shoring. This solution allowed the contractor to reach the majority of the slabs regardless of their height, reducing time and costs.

The quick connecting MEGAFORM formwork, the quick erecting T-60 shoring, along with the service and engineering, created the perfect combination for a successful result required by the client.
