Description

This Bridge Rehabilitation project focused on improving the bridge as well as eliminating the structural deficiencies of the bridge carrying Route 9W over the Popolopen Creek in the Town of Highlands, Orange County, New York State. Bridge elements with deterioration in need of repair or replacement included the following: pedestrian railing, piers, cantilever tie down anchors, and trusses.

ULMA Solution

ULMA provided MEGAFORM and mini A-frames with C6 Channel for one sided multi level pours for Piers 1and 2 on this bridge. This project required one of ULMA's multiple solutions available for one-sided forming applications. We used a combination of our ALUPROP aluminum shoring system, aluminum stringers and mini A-frame system to support the MEGAFORM to rebuild the piers for this bridge. The MEGAFORM and support structure was lifted by crane successively to form these piers. ULMA's engineering department played a key role in designing the system to enable the contractor to efficiently and safely rehab the bridge piers.
