Teles Pires hydroelectric plant, Brazil

ULMA shoring system and formwork perfectly adapted to the construction requirements
This hydroelectric plant Teles Pires is part of the infrastructure plan in the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) of the Federal Government of Brazil.

Description

This hydroelectric plant Teles Pires is part of the infrastructure plan in the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) of the Federal Government of Brazil. The 1,820 MW productive capacity can supply 2.7 million households with energy. The plant is located in the Teles Pires river, a tributary of the Tapajós river at the border of the States of Pará and Mato Grosso in the municipalities of Jacareacanga (PA) and Paranaíta (MT).

In this type of projects priorities are safety, low cost and productivity. Therefore, ULMA came up with a system capable of moving the formwork support without it needing to be dismantled.

ULMA Solution

With 12.68 m MK trusses, a mobile form carrier was configured to move the 19 m high T-60 towers to the next pouring stage. The combination of these two systems showed ULMA's capability to offer the perfect solution for slab support in the machine rooms. There are five such buildings included in the project and currently this solution is used in two of them.

The HMK slab formwork was used without the MK form carrier, but with effective bracing and blocking between towers, these were moved with the Lateral Trolley VR.

The T-60 is a very fast and safe-to-erect high load capacity shoring system.  Even at great heights, as was the case of this project, the system ensures maximum safety.

ULMA's solution meant great savings in time and cost for this project.

There are countless maintenance jobs to be carried out in this type of projects.

10 m high BRIO scaffolding was used for these jobs in the machine room as well as in the collectors. It maintains and guarantees maximum safety at the work place with systems of access and platforms. Moreover to its general flexibility, BRIO perfectly adapted to the straight as well as curved geometries of this project.
